I live in the Cayman Islands and I'm married to Christina. We have two children, Ryan, attending Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and Taylor, attending University of Leeds in Leeds, UK. I own several businesses in Cayman. My list of 'pasts' include past chairman of the Cayman Islands Special Economic Zone Authority, past president of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman, and past president of the Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce.
On June 2, 2020, social feeds were turned into an online protest / acknowledgement / demand for change in an action called #blackouttuesday and I didn’t post. Why didn’t I?
I distinctly remember the events leading up to that date. On May 25, 46 year old George Floyd, and African-American man, was killed while handcuffed by a policeman with his knee on George’s neck … for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. The footage was horrifying. Gut wrenching. Incredible. Shameful. He couldn’t breathe. He repeatedly said that to the officers. So did onlookers.
Sharing a video created by my son, Ryan, as a compilation of awesome things we did in Hawaii this summer. Shot on Oahu, Hawai’i, Kauai, and Maui. If you enjoy please share, like and / or subscribe to his channel on YouTube.
Four years ago I wrote a blog post about returning from researching some boarding schools in Canada for our son who had expressed an interest in taking a different path in his education journey. This summer he graduated from Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario. Three weeks ago he started his college career, studying economics at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, with his first semester actually being spent in Berlin, Germany. Yeah, I’m proud of him.
I love this video my son did as a recap of his March Break from boarding school. Two of his friends from school came down and basically did just about all the things any teen would want to do in Cayman. Enjoy, and come visit the beautiful Cayman Islands!
The photo below is of a business, not a recycling bin.
A few weeks ago my niece and nephew pitched an idea to my wife and I. They had started a small business in their neighbourhood collecting the recyclables from nearby homes. Having gotten into a nice routine there, they were ready to branch out into our subdivision.
Impressed? Yep, I was. We signed up, and, as the annual AGM of our homeowners’ association was coming up, we helped them distribute info to other residents and they signed up another customer in addition to us.
